Firehouse Art Space Offerings:

Our Firehouse Gallery offers a variety of diverse artistic experiences that help the cultural and artistic enrichment in our community. Our programs include the following categories: international artists, local artists, emerging artists, and art students from local schools. TEY  has a collective of multicultural / intergenerational and interdisciplinary artists who collaborate regularly in our arts center. Yerbabruja provides creative  and performing space such as a dance floor, art studio, multimedia studio and sound equipment.. This collective of artists is predominantly Afro Latinx. Yerbabruja also collaborates with local and international visiting artists creating spaces for exchange and development for artists.

Interdisciplinary Performance Theater:

This Program encompasses experimental professional theater and inter-disciplinary productions/ installations;   performances take place at Firehouse Art and Performance Space and in various third-party venues.

Arts in Education:

This after school program seeks to remedy the lack of Spanish theater programs for new immigrant youth in the Brentwood school district. During the semester the students learn about  theater & literature, and they produce & stage stories by Latin American theater writers.

Public Arts:

Our public art projects seek to revitalize our communities and activate the imagination and encourage people to pay attention and perceive more deeply the environment they occupy.

Long Island Puerto Rican Hispanic Parade:

The  Puerto Rican Hispanic Parade is a tradition of the Brentwood community that began in 1963.  Every year about  3,000 participants from different organizations and cultural groups march  with their typical dances and floats throughout the 5th avenues. The parade has been celebrated for 53 years and an audience of over 50,000 enjoy each year of the event.

Advocacy:

We understand that the arts are fundamental for our humanity. They make us more noble and they inspire us, fomenting our creativity, empathy, and beauty. The arts also strengthen our communities socially, educationally, and economically. That's why we fight so that the arts are inclusive & equitable in our communities and schools. Through community workshops, in collaboration with other organizations, and with conversations with elected officials, we advocate for legislations that promote cultural & artistic diversity in Long Island, and for economic resources to be increased so that we can offer arts programs, especially in the BIPOC community.
